Happy President's Day Weekend! To celebrate on the music front, at the end of this post is a video about a recent replication of George Washington's harpsichord. We've had a busy and productive Quarter 3 so far. In music class we've been busy learning and practicing new rhythmic and melodic elements, refining and advancing our skills at playing pitched percussion instruments, and beginning to sing our spring concert songs. We are delighted to welcome the Arizona Opera to our school next Thursday. They will be performing an abridged version of Mozart's Magic Flute! Music clubs are happily underway as well- our ukulele artists are strumming away and learning new chords, k-2 drama is exploring instruments and also beginning to act out Beatrix Potter stories, and 3-5 drama is preparing a production of a Hans Christian Anderson tale The Wise Man's Stone which we have renamed the Stone of Wisdom. Save the date! Spring concert dates are as follows: K-2 concerts are the evening of Monday, May 6. 3-5 concerts are the evening of Thursday, May 9. Club Concerts and Productions: K-2 Drama Production: evening of Monday April 29 Ukulele Club Performance: evening of Friday May 3 3-5 Drama Production: evening of Thursday May 16 |
